JCC Learning Series

Advancing health equity, access and quality care

Join us for this dynamic, free virtual learning series designed to empower professionals in physical and behavioral health and community-based organizations. Enhance your skills and earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuing Medical Education credits (CMEs) in support of providing members with high-quality, compassionate, informed care.

Audience: Providers and care teams, behavioral health professionals, community-based organizations staff, health-equity advocates, and anyone else committed to improving care for the communities we serve.

When: Every other month starting February 2026.

Whole Health Care for Eating Disorders

Description:

Learn how dietitians and behavioral health clinicians can partner to better support people with eating disorders. Our expert speakers will break down each role in assessment, treatment planning and ongoing care — in addition to providing practical tips for working together. They’ll also explore how combining nutritional support with behavioral health care helps promote recovery and improves outcomes. 

Speaker bios:

Grace Laman is a registered dietitian nutritionist with the Providence health care system. She has counseled patients with a variety of clinical conditions, most recently helping patients and their families navigate the challenges and complexities of disordered eating. Her professional interests include pediatric nutrition (particularly eating disorder and autism spectrum disorder feeding issues) and oncology nutrition.  

Suki Conrad is CareOregon’s Behavioral Heath Medical Director. She is board certified in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry as well as consult-liaison psychiatry. Dr. Conrad also holds the Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Supervisor credential. She has extensive experience working with individuals with eating disorders. While not currently in clinical practice, she engages in supervision and education of providers and the community regarding identification and treatment of eating disorders.

Understanding alcohol use disorder and treatment options

Speakers:

Description:

Join us for a session on alcohol use disorder. Find out what it is, how it develops and how it can affect health, relationships and daily life. Learn to recognize the signs of unhealthy alcohol use and when someone may need support. We’ll discuss medications that can help people reduce or stop drinking. Participants will gain a clear, practical understanding of treatment options and how to support people in a respectful, informed and compassionate way.

Join us for an interactive session led by facilitators who have lived experience as  Deaf and Hard of Hearing.  Deepen your understanding of the unique challenges these communities face when accessing health care and community services. Learn practical strategies, communication tips and tools to create more-inclusive environments and better outcomes.

Danica Alexander
Danica Alexander is Deaf; an American Sign Language user; and Vice-Chair for both Jackson Care Connect’s Community Advisory Council and Oregon Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services’ Advisory Committee. She is passionate about Deaf culture and building connections between the Deaf and hearing worlds.   She founded Deaf Activities of Southern Oregon. 

Erica Patino
Erica Patino is a Senior Copywriter for CareOregon, based in Portland. She has lived with moderate-to-severe genetic hearing loss since the age of 5 and wears hearing aids. Erica is passionate about bridging the gap between the hearing and Hard of Hearing communities. She is also the founder of Hear2Tell.com.
